Keyboard shortcuts for the inbox
The dashboard’s inbox works from the keyboard, in every layout and on each thread you open. Press ? there to see every shortcut your role can use. Shortcuts rest while you type in a field, while a menu or a dialog is open, and while you hold ⌘, Ctrl or Alt, so a reply or a search is never cut short by a key and the browser’s own shortcuts keep working. Holding a key acts once, except moving through the list.
Shortcuts
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| / | Search mail |
| C | Write a new email |
| ↓ or J | Next thread |

While you write
In any composer, ⌘ + Enter (Ctrl + Enter on Windows) sends. Esc minimises the floating composer, and leaves a reply with your words kept. See Drafts.
Act on many threads at once
Select threads with X, or with the checkbox on a row. A bar at the bottom of the page then acts on all of them: mark them read or unread, archive them, move them to spam or trash, label them, or assign them. In Drafts, the bar discards the rows you tick. Checkboxes are on desktop only.
Undo
Every change, whether a move to archive, spam, trash or another folder, a label or marking threads read, shows a message with Undo. Press it, or ⌘ + Z (Ctrl + Z on Windows) while the message shows, and the threads go back the way they were. Discarding a draft works the same way.
Quick filters
/ opens the search box, with From me, Unread, Has attachments and Assigned to me beside it. Each narrows the list or a search in one click: see Dashboard inbox. For what you can type in the box, see Search.
